'Dolphin Tale' movie

Adversity abounds on both land and sea in a well-meaning if stridently heart-tugging film about overcoming challenges. A strong cast, including Ashley Judd and Harry Connick Jr., helps move things along.I'll be honest, in the spirit of the honestly shameless heartwarmer "Dolphin Tale" I saw it in a somewhat distracted, agitated state. Forty-five seconds into the opening credits, I'm watching ocean-dwelling dolphins nosing around all sorts of potential dangers (a rusty fishing tackle box, a fateful metal crab trap), and the film's in 3-D, so the dangers loom with exceptional emphasis, and the picture's premise depends on putting the eventually tail-less protagonist — a real-life dolphin named Winter — through all sorts of adversity alongside its human protectors. So I'm thinking: Maybe this isn't for me at this particular time.

Ireland hooker Jerry Flannery has been ruled out of the World Cup due to a calf tear with Munster's Damien Varley called up as a replacement.

Flannery suffered a tear of his left calf during training in Auckland and an MRI scan confirmed the severity of the injury, which will require four to six weeks rehabilitation.
"Obviously it is particularly disappointing for Jerry to have suffered this injury at this point in the tournament," said Ireland Team Manager Paul McNaughton. "With the fact that he is out for four to six weeks, we needed to make the decision to fly Damien Varley down as soon as possible." The unfortunate Flannery will now be in a race to regain full fitness in time for the start of this season's Heineken Cup. Palazzo pants can be intimidating - right perhaps for the tallest of celebrities but either too cute for the rest of us or utterly ridiculous. But the palazzo pant is meant to be grand - as in, worn with oversized sunglasses and a glass of Champagne in your hand while you frolic on a yacht. And it's time to get over the intimidation factor.
